George "Jake" Bauder


George "Jake" Bauder 80 of Perry Twp. Portersville died on Sunday, September 13, 2009 at the Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born March 8, 1929 in Butler County, he was the son of the late Steiner and Violet Barkley Bauder.

George worked at numerous companies in the area including: Prior Oil Company, Matthews Conveyor, Pa. Engineering Co, Ellwood City Iron & Wire, Aetna Standard, and retired from Standard Specialty Steel in Beaver Falls. He was also a self employed mason and handyman. Mr. Bauder was a US Army Veteran stationed with the 28th Division in Germany during the Korean Conflict. He attended Mountville Church. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing and trapping.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Lois Hilliard Bauder, whom he married January 21, 1951, a daughter and son in law, Tammy and Mark Bauder of Ellwood City, a grandson, Nate Bauder and his fiancé, Gabrielle Lordi, both of Ellwood City, two sisters and a brother in law: Gladys Sickle of Portersville, and Joyce and Lanny Campbell of Slippery Rock.

He was preceded in death by a brother, James Bauder.

Visiting hours will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 on Tuesday, September 15 at the Marshall Funeral Home 200 Fountain Ave. Ellwood City.

Funeral Services will be held at the Marshall Funeral Home - Ellwood City on Wednesday, September 16, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. James George officiating.

Interment will follow in the Mountville Cemetery.

Our sympathies to you and your family. I have many fond memories of Jake, and he was a
great influence as I was growing up. He patiently answered my many questions, and was
always willing to share about what he was making and doing at the time.
