Elizabeth Kardish


Elizabeth Kardish, 95, formerly of Ewing Park, Ellwood City died on Friday, September 11, 2009
at the Passavant Retirement Center where she had resided for the past six years.

Born July 17, 1914 in Martins Ferry, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Julius and Elizabeth
Kish Haydo.

She was married on April 22, 1946 to the late John Kardish who died July 29, 1985.

Elizabeth retired from Blocher's Jewelry Store after 59 years of service. She was also a licensed beautician. As a teenager, she worked at the Ball Hereford Farm. She attended Lincoln High School and night classes at Geneva College. She was a member of the Alpha Lambda ETA Chapter of Pi Omicron. She enjoyed painting and won numerous ribbons at the Ellwood City Arts Show.

She also enjoyed poetry and playing the organ.

Survivors include a sister, Helen Dean of New Castle, a niece, Linda Havener of Maryland, five nephews: Don Haydo of Ellwood City, Bill Haydo of Hershey, Pa., and Richard, David and Bob Dean, all of New Castle.

She was preceded in death by two brothers; Julius Haydo Jr. on September 26, 1999 and Joseph
Haydo on April 29, 1997.

Visiting hours will be held from 5-8 on Sunday, September 13 at the Marshall Funeral Home 200 Fountain Ave. Ellwood City.

Funeral Services will be held at the Marshall Funeral Home - Ellwood on Monday, September 14, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Wil Goetze officiating.

Interment will follow in the Slippery Rock Mausoleum.
