Bertha Helen Fortney Burau
Bertha Helen Fortney Burau, 87, of Ellwood City departed for her heavenly home on Tuesday, August 3, 2010 from Fredonia, New York.
Born June 19, 1923 in Butler County, she was the daughter of the late William J. and Luella S. Bolam.
Bertha was a devoted housewife to John Raymond Fortney for 28 years and Walter R. Burau for 20 years. Her greatest interests were the Providence Baptist Church where she participated in many church activities and her home. She loved dancing and was a dancer with the Granada Hills Rocketts Dance Team. Also she and Walter bowled as members of the AARP Bowling League in Ellwood City.
Survivors include two sons, Robert F.(Jean) Fortney of Fredonia, NY, Richard L. (Phillis) Fortney of Kingsport, TN, stepchildren, Shirley Burau (Frank) Schmidt of Canfield, Ohio, Keith (Barbara) Burau of Beaver Falls, Margie Huffman of Girard, Ohio, sister, Bernice McClymonds of Erie, brothers; William Bolam of Rochester, Pa. and Howard Bolam of Portersville, twelve grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husbands and a sister, Betty Hunt.
Visiting hours will be held from 2-4 and 7-9, Tuesday, August 10 at the Marshall Funeral Home 200 Fountain Ave. Ellwood City, PA.
Funeral Services will be held at the Marshall Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 11, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. with her pastor, Rev. Andrew Pepe officiating. Interment will follow in Locust Grove Cemetery.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the Chautauqua County Hospice 37 West Main St. Fredonia, NY 14063.
