Clayton T. "Mac" McConnell


Clayton T. "Mac" McConnell, 62, of Wampum New Galilee Rd. (New Beaver Boro) died on Sunday, May 16, 2010 at Mercy Hospital following a brief illness.

Born February 17, 1948 in Beaver Falls, he was the son of the late Kenneth H. McConnell and Phyllis Maeola Goddard McConnell of New Castle. He was married to Joanne Harper McConnell on September 15, 1967.

Mac first worked for the PA. Turnpike Commission. He then worked and retired from Cemex where he was a heavy equipment operator. He also worked at Sanders of New Castle. A U.S. Army Veteran, Clayton served in Vietnam from September 1968 to September 1969. He enjoyed motorcycles, camping, NASCAR, and Native American Gatherings. His most cherished time was spending it with his family, especially his grandchildren. :)

In addition to his mother and wife, Joanne, he is survived by three sons, Philip McConnell and his fiancé, Samantha Roberts of New Galilee, Charles McConnell and his fiancé, Sarah Lepard of New Galilee, Russell (Jennifer) McConnell of Chewton, two sisters; Vera (Chuck) Wilkins of Portland, OR, Elaine ( Pastor John) Mehaffey of Newell, WV, four brothers; Kenneth W. (Diane) McConnell of Frackville, PA, Carl W. (Sheila) McConnell of Bessemer, Pastor Eugene McConnell of Ellwood City, Pastor Kevin (Lisa) McConnell of Apollo, PA and four grandchildren; Zavary McConnell, Zachary Roberts, Mason McConnell and Cory McConnell.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Friends will be received on Friday, May 21 from 6:00 P.M. until the time of the service at 8:00 at the Marshall Funeral Home Main St. Wampum with his two brothers and brother in law officiating. Interment will follow in Clinton Cemetery.
