Harold E. "Hab" Beltz


Harold E. "Hab" Beltz, 76, formerly of Squaw Run Rd. died on Thursday, May 13, 2010 at Golden Hills Nursing Home following an illness.

Born January 30, 1934 in Shenango Twp., he was the son of the late William E. and Dorothy I. Sonntag Beltz. He was married to the late Jane Louise Stevenson Beltz who died on February 9, 2005.

Mr. Beltz had worked as a machinist at Babcock and Wilcox, Aetna Standard and Feed Screws in New Castle where he retired from. Harold drove school bus for the Ellwood City School District for many years. Hab also owned and operated the Beltz Pennzoil Garage which was located where Loccosanos now resides. He also owned Beltz Coach Sales on Ellwood Rd. He was a former member of the Elks Lodge in Ellwood City. A Veteran of the US Navy, he served from 1951-1954. Hab enjoyed racing dirt modified race cars at local tracks including, Mercer, Hickory, Butler, and Lernerville. He enjoyed hunting with his family.

Survivors include four children, Rodney ( Kathy) Beltz of Ellwood City, Vicki (Dave) McNicholas of New Castle, Noreen "Renee" McQuiston of Ellwood City, Barry (Dawn) Beltz of New Castle, a daughter in law, Jill Mentzer of New Castle, two sisters, Charlotte Beltz of Ohio and Bonnie (Jim) Valladares of California, two sisters in laws, Hazel Beltz Ford of Ellwood City and Waiva Adkins of Ohio, nine grandchildren: Rachel and Rebecca Beltz, Ashley Beltz, Davie III and Deanna McNicholas, Travis and Heather McQuiston, and Jordan and Lauren Beltz and one great granddaughter, Peyton Pilch.

He was preceded in death by a son, James "Butch" Beltz and two brothers, David and William "Billy" Beltz.

Visiting hours will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 on Friday, May 14 at the Marshall Funeral Home, 200 Fountain Ave. Ellwood City. Friends will also be received from 1:00 P.M. until the time of the funeral service at 2:00 pm Saturday at the funeral home. Rev. Todd Custer will officiate the services. Military rites will be conducted by the Veterans Honor Guard. Interment will follow in the Slippery Rock Cemetery.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the Golden Hill Nursing Home.
