Raymond A. Sarver


Raymond A. Sarver, 77, of Duncan Ave. Ellwood City (Ellport) died on Saturday, February 13, 2010 in Sewickley Hospital following a brief illness.

Born November 25, 1932 in Ellwood City, he was the son of the late Earl and Erma E. Mercer Sarver. He was married to the late Joanne McCarty Sarver who died on August 14, 1999. Ray worked in the steel industry for over 38 years, for B & W Steel and Koppel Steel where he was an overhead crane operator. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, where he sang in the choir. Mr. Sarver was a former member of the First Baptist Church in Ellwood City. He was an avid bowler, bowling in the Tuesday Night Men's League. He coached farm league baseball for the Lions in Ellport for many years. His other hobbies included; fishing, woodworking, playing cards and gardening.

Survivors include four children and their spouses; Brenda Sarver (Ron) Walker of Ellwood City, Rae Ann Sarver of Hopewell, Allan (Renee) Sarver of Ellwood City, Maretta Sarver (Steve) Campbell of Ellwood City, five grandchildren; Janet and John Walker, Steve Campbell, Kylee and Sadie Sarver, two great grandchildren; William and Maggie Walker, two brothers, Richard A. (Carolyn) Sarver of Ellport, Dale (Gail) Sarver of Victorville, CA and his favorite cat, White Socks. In addition to this wife, he was preceded in death by a sister, Esther Vanderberg.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, February 16 from 3 to 8 and for one hour before the funeral service at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, February 17, 2010 at the Marshall Funeral Home 200 Fountain Ave. Ellwood City. Interment will follow in the Slippery Rock Presbyterian Church Cemetery . Memorial Contributions may be made to donor's favorite charity.
