Richard L. Kosior


Richard L. Kosior, 79, of Savannah Rd. New Castle (Shenango Twp.) died on Tuesday, May 18, 2010 at Jameson Memorial Hospital following an extended illness.

Born December 29, 1930 in Chewton, he was the son of the late Edward and Sophie Modliszewski Kosior. He was married for 39 years to the late Shirley I. Harvey Kosior who died March 29, 1997.

Richard retired in 1992 from B & W Koppel where he was a millwright. He was a former member of St. Monica's Roman Catholic Church in Wampum. He currently attended Mary Mother of Hope Church in New Castle. A Veteran of the Army, he served in Korea. He was a member of the Chewton Polish White Eagles.

Survivors include four children, Sonia (Daniel) Kuczynski of New Castle, Steven (Karen) Kosior of St. Albans, WV, Marsha (Derek) Blash of Las Vegas, NV, Scott Kosior of Shenango Twp., two brothers, Charles Kosior of New Castle, Paul "Fred" Kosior of Chewton, seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife and parents, seven brothers: Robert, Bernard, Tom, David, John, Ted, and Edward "Don" Kosior, and two sisters: Marcie Shlusser and a sister in infancy.

Visiting hours will be held from 6-9 on Thursday, May 20 at the Marshall Funeral Home Main St. Wampum. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Mary Mother of Hope Church on Friday, May 21, 2010 at 9:00 A.M. with Rev. Father Victor J. Molka Jr. officiating.

Interment will follow in St. Vitus Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by the New Castle Veterans Honor Guard.
