Rosella M. Childs


Rosella M. Childs, 84, of Brighton Rd. Ellwood City (North Sewickley Twp.) died on Thursday, July 29, 2010 at the Mary Evans Care Unit of the Ellwood City Hospital following a brief illness.

Born April 7, 1926 in Galitin, PA, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Violet Main Richter.

She has been married to Wilbert "Will" Childs for 59 years as they were married on June 2, 1951.

Rosella was a professional artist and a well known regional artist and jewelry maker whose works are displayed in numerous collections. She was a member of the Ellwood City Arts Club.

In addition to her husband, Will, she is survived by five children, Donald (Cindy) Farrier of Alabama, Patricia Frankel of Beaver Falls, Cynthia (Glen) Brunken of Slippery Rock, Jeffrey (Lisa) Childs of Strattenville, PA, James (Kelly) Childs of Altoona; twelve grandchildren; Denise Adams, Eli Frankel, Vanessa Doughty, Patricia Davidson, Adam Revelant, James Childs, Sarah Childs, William Childs, Edward Childs, Jeliza Jane Childs, Donald Farrier Jr., Dawn Marie Farrier; and seven great grandchildren.

The last of her family, she was preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth Gastel and a brother, Clarence "Ric" Richter.

Visiting hours will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 on Saturday, July 31 at the Marshall Funeral Home, 200 Fountain Ave. Ellwood City. Funeral Services will be held at the Marshall Funeral Home on Sunday, August 1, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. Interment will follow in Locust Grove Cemetery.
