Wayne E. Kennedy

Wayne E. Kennedy, 87, of Moravia Rd. New Galilee (North Beaver Twp.) passed away at his residence on Saturday, July 24, 2010 following an extended illness.

Born August 16, 1922 in Darlington, he was the son of the late Edwin and Helen Sheerer Kennedy.

He was married for 59 years to Edna Innes Kennedy who passed away May 30, 2006.

Wayne retired from B.& W. where he was a pipe fitter in the welding fitting department in Koppel. He was also a lifelong farmer. Mr. Kennedy was an active member of the Moravia Presbyterian Church, serving as an Elder, former Deacon, Trustee, the Clerk of Session, and a Sunday School Teacher. He was a decorated veteran of the Army, serving in WWII. Wayne was a member of the American Legion Post #749 in Wampum, the Meridian Lodge F & AM #411 in Enon Valley, New Castle Consistory, and the Mohawk Area Church Association. He was active with Project Hope and the Heifer Project. He particularly enjoyed time spent with his church family.

Survivors include five children: Linda (Jeff) Luce of Hermitage, Ed (Diana) Kennedy of North Beaver Twp., Beth (Bob) Basile of Duncannon, PA, Connie (David) Anderson of North Beaver Twp. John (Connie) Kennedy of North Beaver Twp.; sister, Lucy (Bob) McKinley of North Beaver Twp.; ten grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.

A celebration of Wayne's Life will be held at the Moravia Presbyterian Church on Saturday, July 31, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. with his current pastor, Rev. Teresa Kendall and his former pastor, Rev. Jason Hickman officiating. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Jamison Hospice or the Meridian Lodge F & AM. Arrangement have been entrusted to the Marshall Funeral Home - Wampum.
