Betty J. Rice, 78, of Perry Highway (Muddy Creek Twp.) Portersville died on Saturday, August 8, 2009 at the Ellwood City Hospital following a brief illness.

Born January 10, 1931 in Ellwood City, she was the daughter of the late Glen and Lois Arnold Fowler. She was married to the late Joseph Edward Woods who died in 1956 and then to Alfred Rice who died October 27, 2008.

Betty was affiliated with the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. She enjoyed quilting and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Survivors include three children: LaRae (Donald) Scheidemantle, Larry (Debbie) Woods and David Rice, all of Portersville, two grandchildren, Betty Jo Felsing and Matthew Scheidemantle, two great grandchildren; Taylor and Katie Felsing, three sisters; Sara Bowers and Ila Schuster, both of Ellwood City and Mary Lou Watson of Clarion.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family at the Marshall Funeral Home - Ellwood City. Interment will follow in the North Sewickley Cemetery.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
