William
E. Thompson, 80, of River Road, Wampum, died September, 19, 2009, in
Heritage Valley Beaver, following an extended illness.
Born February 14, 1929, in Beaver Falls, he was the son of the late
William and Jean Tinsman Thompson.
Bill retired from Babcock & Wilcox where he worked in the Cold Draw as a
crane operator. Following retirement he was a school bus driver for the
Riverside School District. He was a member of the Clinton Methodist
Church and recently attended the Wampum Presbyterian Church. Bill was an
Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving in the Military Police. He
was a member of American Legion Post 749 in Wampum and a member of the
former Forever Young Ones.
He enjoyed traveling and camping.
Survivors include his wife, Jean McQuiston Thompson; a son-in-law,
Dennis Stiles, Wampum; a grandson, Kevin Stiles, Butler; a
granddaughter,
Kelli Stiles, Dutch Harbor, AK; one sister Joyce (Cliff) Herron, North
Sewickley, Township, and one brother, Donald (Joan) Thompson, WA.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife,
Jean Pennington, who passed away in 1960, and a daughter, Ruth Stiles,
who passed away on April 1, 2004.
Friends will be received today, Monday, September 21, 2009 from 2 to 4
and 7 to 9 at the MARSHALL FUNERAL HOME, Main Street, Wampum.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 22, 2009 at 11 a.m.
at the funeral home with Rev. Dr. William R. McGary, of Wampum
Presbyterian Church, officiating. Military rites will be conducted by
the Veterans Honor Guard. Interment will follow in Clinton Cemetery.
Memorial Contribution may be made to the Wampum Presbyterian Church or
the Clinton United Methodist Church
