Arlene B. MacDonald, 90, of Ellwood City passed away Wednesday, July 8, 2026 at Haven Nursing Home.
Born February 11, 1936 in Ellwood City, she was the daughter of the late Alvi Ross VanGorder and Mary VanGorder Kennedy. She married John R. "Jack" MacDonald on April 27, 1956. Together they shared 65 years of marriage until his passing on April 1, 2022.
Arlene graduated from Lincoln High School. She was a lifelong member of Wurtemburg Presbyterian Church where she previously served as a deacon, choir member, janitor, secretary, and teacher. She was a 65 year member of Wurtemburg Perry Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary where she previously served as treasurer for many years. In her younger years she enjoyed bowling, gardening, walking, reading, and sending cards and letters on special occasions. Her most cherished moments were times spent with her grand and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include daughter, Cindy (Jim) Rosaci of Perry Township; three sons, Jeff (Karen) MacDonald of Perry Township, Joe (Pam) MacDonald of Ellport, and Gary (Chris) MacDonald of Ellwood City; granddaughter, Colei (LLew) Taylor of Ellwood City; two grandsons, Jeffrey (Sara) MacDonald of Virginia and Jared (Kelsey) MacDonald of Ellwood City; eight great-grandchildren; Beanie, Kesena, and Mayah Taylor of Ellwood City, Olivia, Jack Josiah, and Penelope MacDonald of Woodbridge VA, and Jesse and Riley MacDonald of Ellwood City.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles "Chick" and Harry VanGorder.
Friends and family will be received on Saturday July 11, 2026 from 1 pm until the Funeral Service at 4 pm at the Marshall Funeral Home, 200 Fountain Ave. Ellwood City. Rev. Dr. Rob Guy will officiate. Interment will take place in Wurtemburg Cemetery.
