Arnold S. Armstrong

Arnold S. Armstrong, 68, of Stephenson, Virginia passed away Saturday, December 3, 2016 at the Winchester Medical Center in Virginia following a short illness.

Born December 19, 1947 in Ellwood City, he was the son of the late Edwin Plummer and Mary Alice Deal Armstrong. He was married to Barbara Bable Armstrong who survives.

Arnold retired on October 31, 1984 as a Radioman Chief from the US Navy. His military achievements included receiving the Joint Service Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal and Battle Efficiency Ribbon. Arnold worked with the Joint Chiefs of Staff in Washington DC. He was a devoted husband, father and Pap as well as an avid Steelers Fan and Sci-fi enthusiast.

In addition to his wife, Barbara, survivors include a son, Lee Armstrong of Newport News, VA; daughter, Tawnya (Wayne) Forrest of Stephenson, VA; four brothers, Edwin DeWayne Armstrong of New Beaver Boro, William (Lucy) Armstrong of Oklahoma, Glen LeRoy Armstrong of Beaver Falls, Kenneth (Deb) Armstrong of New Beaver Boro; five grandchildren, Travis and Katelyn Armstrong, Shayla, Jayden and Mya Forrest; and one great grandson, Tidus Armstrong.

He was preceded in death by three sisters, Charlotte Nulph, Betty Moss, Mary Alice in infancy, and a brother, Plummer Armstrong.

Family and friends will be received from 4 pm until the time of the funeral service at 7 pm on Thursday, December 8 at the Marshall Funeral Home 341 Main Street Wampum. Rev. Dr. William R. McGary will officiate the service. Full Military rites will be observed by the Veterans Honor Guard. Interment will follow in Clinton Cemetery.
