Donnie Ray Frelin, 74, of Ellwood City passed away Thursday, August 27, 2026 at UPMC Jameson Hospital.

Born June 12, 1952 in Ellwood City, he was the son of the late Harry Sr. and Marion Pisani Frelin.

Donnie was a lifelong truck driver who was an Owner/Operator for many years. True old school, he could have been the poster child for an old school trucker. He was also an accomplished and respected musician who performed with many bands. He generously shared his talents at many charity events.

A jack of all trades, Donnie could fix just about anything. He previously coached Little League, loved hunting and fishing, and played in the Ellwood City Men's Pool League for Breakers.

Above all, Donnie had a huge heart. He was always ready to help anyone in need whether he knew them or not.

Survivors include three sons, Michael (Stephanie) Foley of Florida, Donnie Ray "Bud" Frelin, II of Ellwood City, and Travis (Fiancee Mariah) Frelin of Grove City; daughter, Nikki Frelin of Ellwood City; 10 grandchildren, Nicholas, Joseph, Luke, Gracie, Kylie, Matthew, Danny, Westyn, Hudson, and Breccan; one great-granddaughter, Melodie ; two sisters, Anita Bauer of Michigan and Carol Pleiss of Harmony; two brothers, Ron (Debbie) Frelin of Wampum and Harry (Melissa) Frelin of Ellwood City, and his former wife, Mary Jo Malcolm Frelin of Ellwood City.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Bob and Ralph, sister, K.J. Frelin and his mother-in-law, Margaret Malcolm.

"Not sure if there's a speed limit on the road to Heaven, but you're looking good that way. So go ahead and drop it in the big hole and hammer down."

A celebration of Donnie's life will be held on Saturday September 19, 2026 from 1-5 pm at the New Beaver Borough VFD, 898 Wampum New Galilee Rd. 16157.
