Evelyn P. Dooley

Evelyn Pearl Dooley, 92, a long time resident of Trinity Oaks in Franklin Township, Ellwood City passed away April 3, 2018.

She was born in Franklin Township on February 11, 1926, the daughter of Mr. John and Mrs. Elsie Stephenson. She was married to Robert J. Dooley for 55 years; Bob died in 2001. Together on Butler Avenue in Franklin Township, they raised their beautiful daughter Darcy, also deceased.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, brother, Scott B. Stephenson, and sister, Ethel Jean.

Evelyn attended Slippery Rock Presbyterian Church since the 1940s and was a faithful giver. Lately she attended Lillyville Church of God. Evelyn worked at Bell Telephone in Ellwood City, but she was a stay at home Mom who was a great cook. At Christmas, Evelyn and Bob were always known for their purple Christmas tree! To her many nieces and nephews, she was always known as Aunt Evelyn. She was always a classy dresser, with nails polished purple, turquoise ring and necklace, hair cut to style, and ready to dance! Her favorite color, no matter what, was purple. Her room was a purple shade at Trinity Oaks, and her window sill always manifested the season —especially “Halloween” which her daughter loved. Trinity Oaks staffers called it “Evelyn’s Room.”

Evelyn is survived by her sister Hazel Turner and her daughter, Connie Taube of Texas, as well as her sister in law, Alice Cole, formerly of Ellwood, and her daughter Donna Jean Dolbeer of Ohio who made many trips to allow the two to visit. Cousin Judy Schwartz who often and lovingly took Evelyn shopping, to lunch, and to church. Also surviving: cousin’s Gary Hall and Barbara Boydell of Ellwood City and niece Cindy Jarvis of New Castle; nephew Dan Stephenson of Arizona who always called and sent unique post cards from his truck driving route that always brought a smile to Evelyn; Dale Faust of Tennessee, Patricia Pennington of Minnesota, and many other nieces and nephews. And a favorite cousin, Tom McLaughlin of Pittsburgh and his extended family. She will be missed immensely by nephew, Wayne A. Cole, his wife Eileen, and their grandson, Adair Gwilliam who celebrated many special occasions with Evelyn.

Evelyn was cremated by the Marshall Funeral Home, Ellwood City with private interment. A memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, April 11 at the Slippery Rock Presbyterian Church.

The family wished to thank Trinity Oaks and their staff for many years of fine loving care and Good Samaritan Hospice, Beaver for their outstanding care.

Memorial contributions may be sent to Slippery Rock Church or Lillyville Church of God.
