Frances "Fran" Aldan, 102, of Shenango Twp passed away Wednesday, March 26, 2025 at Haven Convalescent New Castle.
Born February 26, 1923 in Bessemer, she was the daughter of the late Joe and Theresa Puz Mohorich. She was married to Daniel Aldan Jr. for 67 years when he passed away on December 20, 2014.
Fran graduated from Bessemer High School in 1941. As a teenager she worked at Isaly's in Bessemer. During WWII she worked at the Bessemer Brick Yard hacking bricks and also supported the war effort in the production of shells at United Engineers. Following WWII she worked at the A&P in New Castle. She enjoyed gardening, both flowers and vegetables, and gardened well into her 90's. Fran was a long-time member of Harmony Baptist Church and was blessed with a strong faith throughout her life.
Survivors include two sons, Daniel E. (Nancy) Aldan III of Parrish, FL and Jack A. (Rose) Aldan of Youngstown, OH; two daughters, Suzanne (John) Doerr of Parrish, FL and Frances (Blake) Steele of Wayne Twp; 7 grandchildren; and 3 great grandchildren.
The last of her generation, she was preceded in death by her sisters; Mildred Colick and Alma Myers and her brother Joseph Mohorich.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday March 30th from 2 to 4 PM at Marshall Funeral Home, 341 Main Street Wampum. Funeral services will follow at 4 PM with Pastor Dave Keppen officiating.
Fran will be laid to rest next to her husband in the Graceland Cemetery.
The family suggests Memorial Contributions may be made to Harmony Baptist Church or City Rescue Mission both New Castle PA.
