Joanne M. Aiken

Joanne M. Aiken, 79, of Shenango Twp. went home to be with her Lord on Monday, April 16, 2018. She passed away at Clen Moore Place in New Castle.

Born August 1, 1938 in New Castle, she was the daughter of the late Harrison and Della May Martin Bessell. She was married to Richard Oren Aiken for 54 years when he passed away March 29, 2011.

Joanne graduated from Shenango High School in 1956. She was an active member of the First Assembly of God Church on Pulaski Rd. She enjoyed reading her Bible and sewing. Her most cherished time was spent with family. Joanne was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister.

Survivors include a son, Richard O. Aiken Jr. of Charlottesville, VA; a daughter, Susan (Steve) Marich of Shenango Twp., sister, Nellie Strickler of Shenango Twp; former daughter in law, Debbie Procopio of Shenango Twp.; 5 grandchildren: Shelly Marich (Caleb) Quimby, Shannon Marich, Stephanie Marich (Joshua) Sweet, Jennifer Aiken (Bruce) Smith, and Benjamin (Heather) Aiken; four great grandchildren, Bella, Luci, Greyson, and Ivy;special friend, Ron; and many loving nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Dora Jane Craven and a brother, Eugene Bessell.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday April 19, 2018 from 4 until the time of the funeral service at 7 pm at the Marshall Funeral Home 341 Main Street Wampum. Her pastor, Rev. Seth Booher will officiate. Interment will follow in Savannah Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to First Assembly of God Church, Pulaski Rd.
