Larry D. Cole, 69, of  Squaw Run Rd. Ellwood City died on Friday, June 15, 2012 at  UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh following a lingering  illness.

Born October 27, 1942 in Ellwood City, he was the son of the late William Cole  and Alice “Betty” Cover Woodfield of Ellwood City.

He was married to Donna Sumner Cole for 35 years, she survives.

Larry graduated from Lincoln High School in 1960 and continued his education and graduated from Youngstown State University.  He was a partner with Sumner Construction from 1975-1980.  Larry also worked as a Financial Planner with Ameriprise until his retirement in 1995.  He was an avid bird enthusiast and enjoyed shooting pool. .

In addition to his wife, Donna and mother, Betty, survivors include two sons – Aric Ashworth of Ellwood City, Craig (Kak) Cole of Chewton; two brothers – Gerald (Linda) Cole and Joseph Knechtel, both of Ellwood City; two  granddaughters – Tiffany and Brienna Ashworth; and a great-granddaughter – Alazeh Habib.

He was preceded in death by his father and a son, Cary B. Cole.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday June 19 from 6 pm until the time of the funeral service at 8 pm at the Marshall Funeral Home 200 Fountain Ave. Ellwood City.

Rev. Randy Cable will officiate.

Interment will follow in Slippery Rock Cemetery.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the Ellwood City Public Library.
