Lois M. Liebendorfer, 83, of Ellwood City passed away on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
Born January 28, 1943, in Rochester, she was the daughter of the late Charles "Pickles" and Rose Beatrice Mitchell.
The day after her high school graduation in 1960, she began working at Mathew’s Conveyor Company where she made many life-long friendships. After her time at Mathews, she was a secretary in Pittsburgh for the US Steel company within the National Tube Division, before taking a break to start a family. Later she returned to work at Kelly Temp Agency and then worked as a Marketing Assistant at Emess Lighting until she retired in 2006 to take a full-time role as a grandmother.
Lois’s greatest joy was her grandchildren and was happiest when she was with her family. She was proudly known as the grandmother who always showed up, cheering from the stands, playing games, and taking them to their favorite places. Loved by many, she was a warm and caring soul who made everyone around her feel special. She was known for her wonderful cooking and keeping a welcoming home. She was the heart of the family.
Lois was a current member of North Sewickley Presbyterian Church and a former active member of Christ Presbyterian Church. She served as a Deacon and on Session, sang in the choir, and was an original member of the Boar’s Head Festival. She served as secretary of the Ellwood City Historical Society until her retirement in December 2025.
Survivors include her beloved husband of 55 years, Kenneth; two daughters, Lisa (Matthew) Ryan of Hopewell Twp. and Rachel (Jeremiah) Richardson of Gibsonia; two grandsons, Joshua and Mitchell Ryan, and two granddaughters, Gracie and Isabelle Richardson.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Charles "Sonny" Mitchell.
Friends and family will be received on Saturday April 4, from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm at the Marshall Funeral Home, 200 Fountain Ave. Ellwood City. Funeral Services will be held at the funeral home, on Monday April 6, at 11 am with Rev. Elizabeth Crable and Gary Jackson officiating. Interment will follow in Slippery Rock Church Cemetery Mausoleum at a future date.
Special thanks to Taylor at Three Oaks Hospice, as well as Elise and Amanda at Allegheny Health Network Wexford for their loving and compassionate care.
