Matthew W. Cogley Sr.

Matthew W. Cogley Sr., 88, of Franklin Township passed away Monday, January 16, 2023 at his residence.

Born June 12, 1934 in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late Leroy Ellwood and Louise Smith Cogley. He was married to Kathleen Gilligan Cogley.

Matthew was a Veteran of the US Air Force. He worked as a Union Electrician until his retirement from Frankl Electric in McKees Rocks. Some of Matt’s interests were fishing, puzzles, being outside, and working in his rose garden.

Survivors include his wife of 66 years Kathleen; one son, Matthew Jr. of Pittsburgh; two daughters, Beth Cogley of Franklin Township and Chris Cogley of Pittsburgh; five grandchildren, Alan, Matthew, Ashley Lees, and Bryan Cogley, and Tierney Smith; eleven great grandchildren, and three brothers.

He was preceded in death by his parents and five siblings.

A Celebration of Matt’s life will be held at a later date.

Interment will be in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
