Raymond C. Miller, 74, of Sewall Court, Ellwood City passed away Saturday, May 31, 2025, at Clen-Moore Place following an extended illness.
Born March 7, 1951, in New Brighton, he was the son of the late Harold A. and Helen McCoy Miller. He married Sandra J. Miller on July 22, 1977. They shared 39 years of marriage until her passing on July 24, 2016.
Ray graduated with an associate's degree from New Castle Business College. Following college, he worked at Perelman's Jewelry Store and subsequently as a chemist at the Penn Power New Castle Power Plant, where he was known as "Radar" for 37 years. He was a dedicated active member of the First United Methodist Church in Ellwood City where he sang in the choir, served soup lunches and turkey dinners, and was a member of the Apple Dumpling Gang. Ray contributed to the community by volunteering with the Carpenter's Project, the Ellwood City Hospital Auxiliary and as a member of the Kiwanis, where he served as secretary for many years. He was also a former member of the Civic Choral. Affectionately called the "Cupcake Man", Ray was an avid and accomplished baker and utilized his baking talents for many fundraisers. He also enjoyed staying active by taking walks at the track and all over Ellwood.
Survivors include two sons, John (Debbie) and Steven Miller; daughter, Julie (Melanie) Miller, and grandson, Owen Miller.
In addition to his parents and wife Sandra, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Harry and Ken Miller.
Friends and family will be received on Tuesday June 3, 2025, from 2pm to 4pm and from 7pm to 9pm at the Marshall Funeral Home, 200 Fountain Ave. Ellwood City. Friends and family will also be received on Wednesday June 4, 2025, from 10am until the Funeral Service at 11am at the First United Methodist Church. Pastor Jay Sterling will officiate.
Interment will follow in Locust Grove Cemetery.
