Wanda J. Lechner, 82, of Shenango Twp. passed away peacefully, Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at her residence, surrounded by her loving family, following a decades-long battle with breast cancer.
Born April 2, 1942, in Butler County, she was the daughter of the late Walter E. and Mildred Marshall Dean.
Wanda lived in Eastbrook and graduated from Laurel High School, class of 1960. Wanda was an active member of the Center Presbyterian Church. Through the years, Wanda worked at Citizen's Bank in New Castle and at Affordable Car Rental in Ellwood City; but her most important job was being a homemaker and wife, mother, and grandmother. Family was her focus, and her husband, children and grandchildren were her greatest pride. Wanda loved the Lord and quietly served him every day.
Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Richard A. Lechner; son, Gregg A. (Diane) Lechner of Ellwood City; daughter, Lauri L Lechner of Charleston, SC; sister, Helen Vanderveen of Hermitage; brother, Wayne E. (Linda) Dean of Slippery Rock Twp.; brother-in-law, Robert Wilson of New Castle; sister-in-law, Carol Lechner of Taylor Twp., and three grandchildren: Kimberly, Erin, and Mason Lechner. She also adored her Golden Retriever, Millie.
In addition to her parents, Wanda was preceded in death by a sister, Esther Wilson.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday October 28, 2024, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Marshall Funeral Home, 341 Main Street, Wampum.
Funeral Services will be held at the Center Presbyterian Church, 1143 Center Church Road, New Castle, on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Dr. Randy Stringer officiating.
