Carolyn A. Scala


Carolyn A. Scala, 81, of Canal St. Wampum died on Monday, January 31, 2011 following injuries received in a one vehicle accident on St. Rt 288.

Born in Wampum, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Adelina DiTommasso Scala.

Carolyn owned and operated Carolyn's Beauty Salon in Wampum for many years until her retirement. She was a member of Queen of Heaven Church. Carolyn graduated from Wampum High School and the New Castle Beauty School. She devoted all of her time and energy to taking care of her family.

Survivors include three sisters: Josephine Lawson of Koppel, Nancy Scala of Wampum, Delores "Dolly" Dando and her husband, Nick of Wampum, one brother, Mario Scala of Wampum and a sister in law, Frances Scala of Beaver.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by three sisters, Mary T. Scala as a child, Mary A Skvarla, Jennie Kramer and two brothers, Andrew and Nick Scala.

As per Carolyn's request, visiting hours will be held from noon until the time of the Blessing service at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 03, 2011 at the Marshall Funeral Home Main St. Wampum. The service will be conducted by Rev. Father Lou Pascazi of Holy Redeemer Church.

Interment will follow in Holy Redeemer Cemetery.

Please accept my heartfelt sympathy,i will always keep Carolyn in my prayers . I wiil always remember as a little girl the perms and haircuts she woulddo for me ,she was a wonderful person and a good beautician . I shall always remember her kindness.
