Clayton R. Stephenson

Clayton R. Stephenson, 79, of Werner Rd. New Castle (North Beaver Twp.) died unexpectedly on Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at his residence.

Born April 5, 1932 in New Castle, PA, he was the son of the late D. and Josephine L. Snyder Stephenson .

He was married to the late Bertha Joan Snyder Stephenson who died in 1996.

Clayton retired from National Rubber Machine Co. in North Lima, Ohio, where he was a machinist. He was a Marine Sergeant in the 2nd Battalion 5th Regiment serving in Korea. He was decorated with a Purple Heart while serving his country. He was a life member of the VFW Post # 8106 in New Galilee.

Survivors include 4 daughters - Jane Stone of Jefferson, OH, Susanna Stephenson of OH, Bonita Stephenson of McKees Rocks, PA, Julie Stephenson of Aspinwall, PA; son - Charles C. Stephenson of Wilmington, DE; 1 brother - Ralph Eugene Stephenson of Mays Landing, NJ; 3 grandchildren - William O. Stone III, Allyson Abruzzino, and Zachary Stephenson; and 2 special nephews, Clayton Dale Stephenson and Keith Stephenson, both of New Jersey.

Visiting hours will be held on Monday August 1, 2011 from 6 - 8 pm at the Marshall Funeral Home 341 Main Street Wampum.

Committal services will be held at Castleview Memorial Gardens on Tuesday, August 2, 2011 at 11:00 am with Rev. Teresa Kendall of the Moravia Presbyterian Church officiating. Military rites will be offered by the Veterans Honor Guard.
