David L. Barber Sr.


David L. Barber Sr., 81, of New Beaver Boro died on Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at the Southpoint Personal Care at Jameson following an extended illness.

Born August 25, 1930 in Wampum, he was the son of the late William G. and Sarah E. Hairhoger Barber Sr.
He was married for 60 years to Carol J. Freed Barber, who survives.

David retired as a truck driver from the Beaver County Trucking Co. He was a 30 year member of the Teamsters Local Union # 261. He enjoyed fishing and camping.

In addition to his wife, Carol, he is survived by 3 sons - David L. (Lugene) Barber Jr. of Wampum, James D. Barber and his spouse Dean Goodwin of Suisun City, CA, Larry G. (Sue) Barber Sr. of Slippery Rock; 3 sisters - Dorothy (Ed) Doherty of Wampum, Nancy (Bob) McConahy of Chewton, Lois Panella of New Galilee; 1 brother - Raymond L. Barber of Koppel; 1 sister in law - Mary Barber of Wampum; 6 grandchildren - David L. Barber III, Timothy L. Barber Sr., Matthew Barber, Larry G. Barber Jr., Ginger R. Barber McDeavitt, Jessica R. Barber; and 3 great grandchildren - David L. Barber IV, Waylon Barber, and Timothy L. Barber Jr.;

He was preceded in death by 3 brothers - William G. Jr., Robert, and Keith Barber, and 2 sisters - June Barber and Vivian McClain.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday December 23, 2011 from 7-9 at the Marshall Funeral Home 341 Main Street Wampum.

Funeral Services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, December 24, 2011 at 11:00 am with Pastor Dick Allen of the Chewton Christian Church officiating.

Interment will follow in the Clinton Cemetery.
