Eugene L. Kirkwood

Eugene L. Kirkwood, 83, of Main St. Wampum died on Thursday, April 21, 2011 at his residence following an extended illness.

Born December 22, 1927 in Wampum, he was the son of the late Doris and Helen Nagel Kirkwood. He was married for 37 years to Evelyn L. Rosaci who passed on December 24, 1991.

Gene retired in 1989 with over 40 years of service from Medusa Cement Co where he was a welder. He was a veteran of the US Navy serving in WWII. He enjoyed golfing, reading and walking.

Survivors include a daughter, Kathy Piatt with whom he resided, two brothers and one sister, Walter Kirkwood, John Kirkwood, Winifred Manso, all of Wampum, four grandsons; Dustin, James, and Jeffrey Piatt, all of Wampum, Joshua Piatt of New Castle, and three great granddaughters; Brianna, Destinie, and Emma Piatt.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Orabelle "Tippy" LaPenta and Delores Talley, and two brothers; Robert and James Kirkwood.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, April 25 at the Marshall Funeral Home, Main St. Wampum with Rev. David A. Alleman officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the Veterans Honor Guard. Interment will be held at Clinton Cemetery.
