In Loving Memory

My deepest sympathy to Gene Jarrett Hawthorne's family. I worked for Home Instead and stayed with and cared for Gene for many months and we became dear friends. I enjoyed her company and the many conversations that we had about her travels and her family. She was so proud of the Doctors and others in her family and often spoke about them and their work. She enjoyed the emails received from them on her WEBTV and the many phone calls that she received from them. She knew that they loved her very much. She showed me the wonderful book written about the life of Olivia. I enjoyed every minute that I spent with Gene in her lovely home and will surely miss her. I know that the other caregivers feel the same way and enjoyed all of our outings and walks with Gene. She and I read the Bible together and also the Upper Room that I gave to her from my church (Calvin Presbyterian Church) and I am sure that GOD and the Angels were waiting for her in Heaven yesterday. Again with Deepest Sympathy, Donna Snare

Our prayers and deep condolence's go to all of Gene's family--We were the neighbor's from the "top of hill"--Gene was a delightful person-our conversations were usually held from the road as Gene walked her beloved Dog and at the mail box. We settled a lot of the world problems and local problems at that mail box!! Her family was her world and her friends were so very special to her.. It has been a priviledge to have known Gene. May God hold you and bless you for ever--Bill and Kathy Thalmann-Blank--712 Morningstar Dr.("on the hill")

To the family and friends of Gene,
Our sympathy to you and we say farewell to a great patient and human being.
Gene was one of our most memorable residents at Ellwood City Hospital and
helpful volunteer. Nancy was one of the nurses in ICCU when David passed.
Gene wrote a "better late than never" thank you card on January 7, 2008. In
it she recounted the night of December 17 when Nancy comforted her but
didn't see her again. When Gene was a patient, we talked about many things
as she walked the halls with her walker.
One day she mentioned the ICU nurse that she lost track of that worked 3-11.
We agreed that it was Nancy. Nancy kept the
card with other memorable ones. When she read the notice about Gene, she
showed the card to me. Gene wrote that she thought about Nancy every
December 17th. We enjoyed visits with her at Northview Estates.
