John Capp
John Capp, 87, of Eliza St. Wampum (Chewton) died on Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at the Haven Convalescent Home following an extended illness.
Born March 23, 1923 in Chewton, PA, he was the son of Theodore and Anna Tynik Capp. He was married for 64 years to Dorothy J. Krosovic Capp who survives.
John retired from Babcock & Wilcox in Beaver Falls where he was a machine operator in the Hot Mill Department. He was well known in the area as an accomplished cement and brick mason. He was a member of the Queen of Heaven Church. John was a Veteran of the US Marine Corp, serving during WWII and a member of the American Legion Post 749 in Wampum. John was an active member of the Chewton Volunteer Fire Department. He helped in the building of the initial fire hall and all of its additions. He enjoyed gardening and mushroom hunting.
In addition to his wife, Dorothy, he is survived by daughters - Marianne (George) Fabich of Wampum, Melinda (Michael) Fabich of Shenango Twp.; son - John A. (Sharon) Capp of Ross Twp.; 9 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren.
The last of his family he was preceded in death by three sisters; Helen Okamski, Mary Watters, Ann McDonald and two brothers, Pete Vansovich, Michael Capp and a daughter in law, Elaine Capp .
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday February 10, 2011 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Marshall Funeral Home 341 Main Street Wampum.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Queen of Heaven on Friday, February 11, 2011 at 10:00 AM.
Interment will follow in the Holy Redeemer Cemetery. Military honors will be offered by the Veterans Honor Guard.
