Leonard J. "Shake" Stiles

Leonard J. "Shake" Stiles, 89, of Davidson St. Wampum died unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at his residence.

Born February 13, 1922 in Smoke Run, PA (Clearfield Co.), he was the son of the late Andrew and Vanda Gmerek Stiles Sr.

He was married for 63 years to Julia Szabo Stiles, who survives.

Leonard retired in 1982 from Babcock & Wilcox - Wallace Run Works. He was a member, elder, and former deacon of the Wampum Presbyterian Church. He was also a former member of the Wampum Lions club and the Paws and Taws Dance Club in New Castle. He was a former Wampum Baseball Little League Coach. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping.

In addition to his wife, Julia, he is survived by 2 sons - Dennis (Amy) Stiles of Wampum, David Stiles of Pittsburgh; 4 sisters - Lily Mills of Ellwood City, Dorothy (Dick) Anderson of New Castle, Bessie (Henry) Rafacz of Wampum, Jessie (Cashmere) Korowicki of Washington, Pa.; 1 brother - Andrew (Millie) Stiles of Ellwood City; 4 grandchildren - Kelly, Kevin, Alex, and Tricia Stiles; 1 great grandson - Tristan Stiles; and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a daughter Julia Ann Stiles on October 27, 1969, a brother - Joseph Stiles, and a sister - Rella Crofton.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday May 27, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9 the Marshall Funeral Home 341 Main Street Wampum.

Funeral Services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, May 28, 2011 at 1:00 pm with Rev. Dr. William R. McGary officiating.

Interment will follow in Locust Grove Cemetery.
