Marie Myers Hilliard


Marie Myers Hilliard, 93, formerly of Ellwood City and New Castle peacefully went to be with her Lord and her family on Saturday, December 10, 2011 at the home of her daughter in Evans City.

Born February 13, 1918 in Ellwood City, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Nell Voorhees Bartle .

She was married to Walter G. Myers who died in 1965 and then to Arthur J. Hilliard who died in 2007.

Marie formerly worked at Eight Till Late and Christy's Market in Ellwood City. She graduated from Lincoln High School in 1937. She was a member of the Wampum Presbyterian Church and attended Memorial Park Church in Allison Park for 5 years. Marie enjoyed attending the former Forever Young Ones in Wampum. Her hobbies included reading, flower gardening and playing cards. Her most cherished time was spent with her children and grandchildren.

Survivors include a daughter - Carol Mayer of Evans City; a son - Gary (Carol) Myers of Wampum; 3 step children - Letty, Patrick, and Michael Hilliard, all of the West Coast; 5 grandchildren - Diane (David) Collins of IL, Karen (Jeff) Froehlich of Wexford, Heather (George) Anderson of Koppel, Lisa (Chauncey) Apple of FL, Patti Allen of Huston,PA; a step granddaughter - Stephanie (Allen) Mosby of Georgia; 11 great grandchildren - Brandon Mayer, Noah, Nathan and Kristy Froehlich, Morgan Myers, Brice Anderson, Courtney, Chaelynn, Chloe Mosby and twins - Chance and Chase Mosby; a special niece - Joanne Hilliard and a special friend - Terumi Ackerman.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Fred E Myers, and a brother and sister in law, Kenneth and Helen Bartle.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday December 13, 2011 from 6-9 pm at the Marshall Funeral Home 341 Main Street Wampum.

Funeral Services will be held at the funeral home on December 14, 2011 at 1:00 pm with Rev. Dr. William R. McGary officiating.

Interment will follow in Clinton Cemetery.
