Richard Oren AikenRichard Oren Aiken, 76, of Conner School Rd. Wampum (Shenango Twp.) went home to be with his Lord on Tuesday, March 29, 2011 from his residence following a brief illness.

Born March 15, 1935 in Pittsburgh, PA, he was the son of the late Oren W. Aiken and Florence Clark Aiken of New Castle.

He was married on July 28, 1956 to Joanne Marie Bessell Aiken, who survives.

Mr. Aiken was a partner in the ownership and operation of New Castle Auto Parts until his retirement in 1997. He was an active member and former Sunday School Teacher at the First Assembly of God Church on Pulaski Rd. Richard graduated from Shenango High School in 1953 and served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend.

In addition to his mother and wife, he is survived by a son - Richard (Amber) Aiken Jr. of Charlottesville, VA; daughter - Susan (Steve) Marich of Shenango Twp.; former daughter in law, Debbie Aiken of Shenango Twp.; 5 grandchildren: Shelly Marich (Caleb) Quimby, Shannon and Stephanie Marich, Jennifer Aiken (Bruce) Smith, and Benjamin Aiken; two step grandchildren of Charlottesville and many loving nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father and a brother, David George Aiken.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday March 31, 2011 from 5 to 8 pm at the Marshall Funeral Home 341 Main Street Wampum.

Funeral Services will be held at the Marshall Funeral Home on Friday, April 1, 2011 at 11:00 am with Rev. Chad Stoecker and Rev. Kenneth Meyer officiating.

Interment will follow in the Savannah Cemetery.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the First Assembly of God Church.

We are so sorry for your losof Richard.Sorry we were out of town and couldn't get to the funeral home to pay our respects.

Its hard to understand why loved ones are taken from us, but fine domfort in knowing he was a special part of a well-lived life.
