Robert M. Jacobs


Robert M. Jacobs, 80, formerly of Byng St. Ellwood City died on Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at the UPMC Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh following a brief illness.

Born December 13, 1930 in New Castle, he was the son of the late Tony and Mary Maamary Jacobs.

He was married for 45 years to Rebecca Miller Jacobs, who survives.

Bob was a butcher for many years, working at the A&P and Loccisanos. He was Christian by faith. A Veteran of the Air Force, he served in Greenland. Robert loved sports, especially the Steelers and Penguins. He will be remembered as a quiet man who was compassionate and caring.

In addition to his wife, Rebecca, he is survived by two sisters, Rachel Albert of New Castle, Virginia Nader of Cleveland, Ohio and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Fred Jacobs of New Castle, and five sisters: Vivian Jacobs and Delores Bryan, both of New Castle, Elizabeth Kelly and Freida Deep, both of Pittsburgh, and Rose Slaby of New York City.

Friends will be received on Saturday February 26, 2011 from noon until the time of the funeral service at 2 at the Marshall Funeral Home. 200 Fountain Ave. Ellwood City. Rev. Tod Custer will officiate.

Interment will follow in the Locust Grove Cemetery.
