Shirley W. Boots


Shirley W. Boots, 77, of Cleland Mill Rd. New Castle (North Beaver Twp.) passed away on Friday, June 17, 2011 at the Jameson Memorial Hospital following a courageous battle with lung cancer.

Born August 12, 1933 in North Beaver Twp., she was the daughter of the late Carl A. and Lucy Stickle Wigley.

She was married for 58 years to Clarence Boots who survives.

Shirley was an active member and former deacon at the Westfield Presbyterian Church. She graduated from Mt. Jackson High School in 1951 and had formerly worked at Penn Power in New Castle. She was a member of the Wimodausis Society in New Castle and the Neighborhood Girls Birthday Club. Shirley was lovingly referred to as "Nanny Shirley" by nieces and nephews. She enjoyed family game night playing phase 10, crossword puzzles, camping, gospel and country music. Her most cherished time was spent with her family.

In addition to her husband, Clarence, she is survived by a daughter and son in law - Terri Lynn (David) Carley: son and daughter in law - James (Evelyn) Boots, all of North Beaver Twp.; sister - Dora May Kumrow of New Galilee; brother - Danny C. (Margaret) Wigley of Lancaster and a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Visiting hours will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 on Tuesday June 21, 2011 the Marshall Funeral Home 341 Main Street Wampum.

Funeral Services will be held at the Westfield Presbyterian Church on Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at 11:00 am with Rev. Dr. Robert Bardeen and Rev. James Cossin officiating.

Interment will follow in Westfield Cemetery.
