Thomas Welsh Linzey
Thomas Welsh Linzey, 71, of Big Beaver Borough, died unexpectedly, on June 7, 2011, at the Heritage Valley Medical Center, Beaver.
He was born December 10, 1939, the son of the late Thomas Lester and Elta Jane (Welsh) Linzey. He was a life long resident of Big Beaver and resided at the family farm for most of his life. Thomas was an Army veteran, and was honorably discharged in 1962. Tom, known as "Grubo" by his co-workers, retired from Babcock and Wilcox and Koppel steel mills after almost 35 years. He remained involved in the community by serving as a council member for four years and being an active and social member of the Big Beaver Volunteer Fire Department. He was affiliated with the First Primitive Methodist Church, at the Crossing, Big Beaver.
Thomas, always hard-working and devoted, is survived by his wife of 48 years, Emily Jean (Latek) Linzey, and four children, Karen (Linzey) Travers, New Brighton, Emily (Linzey) Rose, Big Beaver, Matthew Linzey, Wooster, OH, and Keith Linzey, Harrisburg, PA. A loving and kind grandfather, he will be greatly missed by his grandchildren, John Travers, Big Beaver, and Krystal Travers, Gary Rose, serving in the United States Marine Corp, and Todd, Jeffrey, Laura and Julia Rose, Big Beaver. He also leaves behind a sister and brother-in-law, Martha Jane (Linzey) and Paul Powers; four nephews, and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
Those that knew him will forever miss his many stories and easy going smile and generosity.
Gone from our sight, that is all. And just at the moment when someone says; "there, he is gone!" There are other eyes watching him and coming and rejoicing. "Here he comes!"
Visitation will be on Saturday, June 11, 2011, from 2 to 8 p.m. in the MARSHALL FUNERAL HOME, Main Street, Wampum, where a funeral service will be held Monday at 11 a.m., conducted by Rev. R. George Snyder.
Interment will follow at Grandview Cemetery, where military rites will be offered by the Veterans Honor Guard.
